Rayne pushed the key into the aging lock on the chipped, wooden door. The cramped alley where his sister had bought the flat was almost scarily claustrophobic and let little light onto the cold stone floor. Trust her to move into the worst dive in the entire village, he thought sullenly as he pushed hard against the unyeilding door.

Finally the door fell inwards against his shoulder and Rayne stumbled forwards into the murky flat. Looking up he tried to make out where exactly the light switch was as he felt his way through the gloom of the hallway. His hand fell onto a table, and he guided himself around it until his fingers brushed against something cold...her rosary beads.

Rayne felt the wind go out of him, and the scars on his neck began to burn with a sudden intensity he'd never felt before. He fell to his knee's, cholking in pain as something cold flashed through his mind,

Oh Jesus, something is very, very wrong here...

His hand trembled as he closed his fingers around the beads and he forced the feelings away from him, leaving him trembling on the floor of his dead sisters empty apartment, with the door blown open behind him.

[As if they had always been there two figures where by Rayne's side, their forms mostly humans, but their eyes were yellow and white.]

Figure one: Hey mortal! You ok?

Figure two: What the hell did you touc.....

[In a flash of light the second figure, was hauled away out throught he door and slammed into the opposite wall before falling down.]

Figure two:[from outside] For F.ucks sake, gimme holy water, the bible even a freaking cross but why WHY? did it have to be Rosary Beads...uuuggghhhh..... [pained] my being is a void of ppaaiinnn!!!

[Inside the first figure is still kneeling next to Rayne really trying to keep a straight and serious face and not give in to the incredible urge to laught his a.ss off]

Rayne jerked around in shock, staring out of the door after the figure which lay sprawled against the wall. The rosary beads still clenched in his hand, he climbed to his feet, leaning heavily against the table. This village....is far too strange...

"Are you ok?" Rayne tried to keep the panic from entering his voice, as he saw the two figures eyes, "Wait...what are you doing here? Who are you?"

((*dies laughing*))

First figure:[stands up] I'm Alex and the whiner out there is John.

John:[From the outside] Yeah you just wait till I stick a cross up your a.ss and we'll see who whines.

Alex:[snickers] Yeah well first things first, we were assigned to you as protectors and guids untill you have fully gotten to know the city.

[Both the figure were about 170 centimeters in height, but everything else was different. Alex had bangs hanging down, covering some of his face, but his totally white eyes where visible through the hair. His clothes where blue with white stripes.]

Rayne fought the instinct to run very fast in whatever direction his new guides were not, clearly this was one of those things he was going to have to get used to. along with vampires that weren't trying to kill him, mysterious eruptions of power from rosary beads, and whatever else this place had lurking in every other shadow,

"Well...It's nice to meet you then..."

Rayne offered his hand to Alex in the manner of one who expects to have it bitten off,

"Um, if you don't mind me asking, who exactly assigned you to do this?"

Alex:[gripping Rayne's hand and shaking it] You're Welcome, oh and our "employeer" would be Damien Black, the tall blond guy with the black long coat. Alot of things happens in this town, alot of things normal people wouldn't understand, so he assigned us to make sure you wouldn't run into any kind of trouble.

John:[from the outside] If you haven't all ready please put the beads away before I come in, I don't want to have that ride again!!!

Rayne glanced down at the beads in his hand and tossed them over towards a particularly dark corner, he'd be able to dig them out later if he needed to. He glanced back to his "Guide's" nervously,

"Yeah, I think I ran into him earlier...I sort of noticed that this town wasn't quite as run of the mill as my last home. Sorry about the rosary beads, I wasn't expecting visitors..."

He glanced over to John cautiously, what exactly were there two?

John:[coming in, some of his clothes smooking] It's all cool, my own fault for not paying attention.

[Unlike Alex, John had red short hair and wore very pop related clothes, and a set of large earphones around his neck.]

Alex: You see, John is a Rosary Demon and I'm a Cross Demon. We're both from the Linked Demon houses, we are linked to the names of our houses as to our weaknesses, John's weakness if Rosaries and Mine are crosses, looking at it is utter painful as you just saw, touching one is death.

John:[shaking his head] Alex you idiot, don't you ever know when to shut up? He's a normal human being, he's probably scared nutsless, we'll split Mr. we'll be around to check on you.

[Both Alex and John disappears as if they had never been there]

Rayne muttered before staggering back and collapsing into a chair, exhausted. His hand found the rosary beads, which had fallen across the arm of the chair but this time there was no pain in touching them. Staring at the beads for a moment he got to his feet again and carried the beads to the corner where a small chest fo draws waited. Rayne pulled them open and dropped the beads inside.

Ok, so maybe they're slightly creepy demons who can apparently appear and disappear at will....I'd still feel pretty guilty if one of them died because I left some of Eloises old stuff lying around.

A shock ran through the town, shaking the foundations of the murky building,

"what the hell?"

Rayne muttered as he was thrown down to the floor by the force. Getting to his feet he headed out the door an into the street, a deep crack ran through the pavement and Chaos seemed to be breaking out everywhere. Somehow his eyes were drawn away from town towards the thick forest he'd seen on his way into the city, something was very, very wrong here. A chill ran through him as he stood there, and he decided that it was time for him to leave, turning to run back through the dark alleys of endormi.
